The epidemic of swine flu has affected a large number of population of American continent. In the year 2009 the states of United States was at high risk of H1N1 viruses. Starting from Mexico the flu virus crept into USA, Canada and many Asian and European countries. Swine flu is a respiratory disease that shows similar patterns like common seasonal flu. The number of swine flu deaths has already crossed 10000 mark in USA. California, Virginia, Florida, Carolina, Kentucky are some of the severely affected states of USA. Being the state of USA Florida has also been severely affected with swine flu virus in the year 2009. The total population of Florida is about 18,328,340 out of which the confirmed swine flu Florida cases have reached over 3591 and the hospitalization of swine flu Florida cases was reported to be 1142 till the end of the 2009.

Flu. Formal treatment centers for flu were established in schools, colleges and other organizations so that anyone can be tested or treated if suffering from flu like symptoms. People were asked to stay at home as far as possible and avoid public places as swine flu virus generally spreads through coughing and sneezing of an infected person. Those who were found infected were asked to stay at home until fully cured from the flu. Checks were also done on airport to detect cases of swine flu.

The swine flu Florida cases has also affected the economy of Florida, a large part of Florida’s economy depends on tourism. Every year many people visit Florida to spend their vacation during summers. Many people canceled their travel plans to Florida which caused loss to Florida businesses. Major losses were reported by hotels, restaurants and associated entertainment businesses. Less number of tourists also had their impact on travel industry and many flight tickets were canceled.
